“stop, stop lady the bridge is out!” Home health nursing held a measure of adventure for me and encountering the challenges of changing weather, rough roads, and at times, difficult to locate driveways, were not new. However, on a warm summer afternoon headed to the last scheduled home there was something strangely different about this location. Following the directions, I turned from the road onto the driveway and was headed to a home nestled in a heavily wooded area. As I drove down an incline suddenly I heard the words, “stop, stop lady the bridge is out!” Checking my rearview mirror I saw a man waving his arms. A prayer ascended as with wings, Oh God help me? Is it a trap? Should I keep going? Who is he? Quietly and quickly was the answer, “stop and back up”. Have you ever heard his voice? John 10:4 reminds us in Christ’s own words, ..” He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him; for they know His voice! How does one become familiar with a voice? Hearing it often in conversation as part of a close relationship can record that sound in the mind. I strongly encourage you to get to know His voice, for that day knowing His voice saved my life!
