“Perfect Barriers”…For such a time? With great diligence this busy lady had planned a nonstop day. The appointments were spaced carefully considering distance and wait times. After quiet time with God, she proceeded with her morning routine. Soon feeling confident and prepared to face this exciting day, she was on her way! The first appointment went well leaving extra time for travel. After the second appointment she decided to make a purchase. After getting into her car, she was clearly directed to take the article back and get a refund. A refund? Because of difficulty with an electrical device the payment process had to be reversed but only after multiple attempts and the clock was ticking! Finally, back on the road she was headed to a meeting in a nearby city. Her GPS was working well until ….detours! Frustrated and knowing she was near her destination; walking seemed the best option. But to find a parking space! Oh God help me she whispered and suddenly there was a space, she quickly pulled in. Now which way? The building should not be far, making a right at corner should take her there. As anxiety mounted, she stopped a stranger and inquired….she was walking in the opposite direction! As they talked the lady walked further than her destination to help guide this frustrated traveler! Can you identify? Knowing you are in God’s will but it all not making sense! Was the refund necessary? And those detours, why so many and one- way streets! It felt like a line of barriers! In the little book of Esther chapter 4 Mordecai, with a command, answered this beautiful young lady whom he had raised as a daughter and was facing possible death“….who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such time as this? After another surprising barrier, this lady was at last leaving the city; 5 O’clock traffic seemed more stressful than usual. Rounding a curve suddenly she saw a car, hood up, that had stalled in the turn lane! Near the car was a woman with fear written on her face and surrounded by firefighters (smoke has been pouring from the engine) and an ambulance driver…the woman was a friend of hers!! She must make her way through traffic to the next turn lane, and get to her friend! Finding an opening she darted over and parked safely nearby. Her friend’s face showed great relief as another friend had also stopped and was able to tow her car to his home for needed repairs. Later, she was able to get her friend and her refrigerated food home. The friend said that it had all happen so quickly. They prayed together, thanking God for protecting her from possible death and sending whom she called…”angels”! Eventually headed toward home again this lady knew why the seeming barriers of that day, she needed to be slowed down! And I know because that lady was me! The “seeming barriers” had been perfectly timed and constructed so that I could be there for my friend! For such a time as this! And you are living for such a time as this! Step back pray, reach out, listen, and take time! Faith is the substance!! Don’t let any of life’s attractions crowd out your time with God! They will come masked in numerous ways.
