Matt. 5:14 It was a starless night on a lonely country road when I discovered the power of darkness. Approaching my turn I thought, oh the deer will be running I must put on my bright lights. As I felt for the lever suddenly all was black. My mind started to race! Was it me or was the car malfunctioning? Suddenly the whole world changed. Blackness crowded out all light. Momentarily I lost perspective, judgment and felt helpless and totally alone! My senses immediately heightened. Where was the road’s edge I thought? And then desperately attempting to gain some control, I felt again for the lights and then realized that I had accidentally turned them off! Today many feel like that this crisis has turned off the lights in their lives. The despair, helplessness and hopelessness are rampant. Perspective and judgment are challenged. Life’s’ edges have disappeared and there is no control. But there is good news and light very nearby! There are more than 25 references to light in the Word. The most powerful is John 8:12. Here Jesus says “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life!” So following Him is the key to light! And not only will those followers have light, but they will share with the whole world! Matthew 5:14. So let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!! I would very much like to know about your light and the lives it is reaching. Email me at this address. And until next time, remember where sin abounds grace does much more abound! Romans 5:20
