“And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39
Have you lived through a major hurricane, tornado, earthquake, or blizzard? What was it like? These tempests have become commonplace in our world today and leave an indelible impression, just as does having a relative or close friend experience a near death confrontation by COVID-19. One emotion common sparked by all these stressors is fear.
As a small boat glided over the gentle waves of the Atlantic ocean, fun, certainly not fear was utmost in the minds of the young passengers. But suddenly, fear was written on their faces as those gentle waves became walls of water surrounding the struggling vessel as if to take it hostage. The captain, working to stay calm, wrestled with the wheel until the storm grew quiet and land was in sight. We lived!
Mark offers us an experience of a great storm of wind and waves that drove the disciples to fear even though they had Christ with them in the boat. He said to the sea, “Peace be still” immediately there was a great calm. And then asked them an embarrassing question,…”Why are you so fearful: How is it that you have no faith?”
What a lesson for all of us! No fear! I encourage you to keep Him on board throughout life’s journey and please continue praying for Grace Abounds Ministries. The virtual concert is in process, but the date has been confirmed. And remember that where sin abounds, grace does much more abound!! Rom. 5:20
