“Help when there is loss” A poor and grieving mother followed the funeral train. Her child gone! She had done all she could, but death had claimed his young life! In compassion Jesus raised her child and took him to his mother! How long will it be? This father was waiting to hear, would his son live? He had asked God to keep him alive. Finally, the news arrived, the child was dead, and Jesus did not intervene. A much different outcome but God was present in both situations. He has the bigger picture. Where was God in these lives? Where is God in your life? Whatever your challenge, it matters not, rich, poor, alone, in a crowd, grieving or giving up on life, for God has the power to surround you with His undying love, unlimited consolation and hope! These gifts are yours by faith and are real! Faith is the key. Talk to Jesus He is your Savior and your friend, He will give you the faith you need and help you to exercise it even in the face of seeming defeat! Faith is the victory! As we approach the holidays what happened to the mother and father above has happened to many and often these memories pierce their hearts as they attempt to live through celebrations that are designed to be filled with joy and happiness. His promises are especially needed during these long days. And the good news…the more one needs the Lord, the more He is there! Here are some tips that may be helpful when trying to support those whose holidays will not be the same because of loss: 1. Pray for them…….He will hold your right hand! Is. 41:13 2. Support their desire to be alone…He will send peace…Phil.4:7 3. Do not urge them to go shopping…Luke 22:42…not your will 4. Be willing to listen and listen and be quiet…Is. 26:3 5. Be willing to just sit with them…John 14:27 Bless those who will minister and those to whom will be ministered. God is big enough!
