Are you on Life Support? “Code blue, room 0007 “! This hospital- wide announcement meant there was no time to lose, for someone had stopped breathing or had a cardiac arrest! A life hung in the balance! As a registered nurse I clearly remember hearing these words, being a part of the resuscitation team, and knowing that every minute counted! Once the person had been stabilized and ultimately recovered, they may transition home. Some of you may have been closely connected with a person, or having been that person on life support, a recipient of emergency cardiovascular care. But can there be life support other than physical? Life support as we think of it is needed when there has been extensive injury, illness or disease and the goal is life and eventually quality of life. What about spiritual life support? Could it be that this kind of support is needed moment by moment to maintain quality of life now and ultimately receive eternal life then? Here are a few questions to ask yourself. What is my divine blood pressure, my spiritual pulse, my heavenly lab values? Rest assured all these spiritual measurements are affected by day-to-day struggles, disappointments, victories and defeats. God knows, understands and is present to carry your burdens, listen to your heart cries and hold you in His everlasting arms! …on going life support!! The following are steps beginning in the morning to help you face the daily obstacles and overcome in Him! I am Praying for you! 1. Seeking Him early and daily….Ps. 63:1, Lam. 3:21-23 2. Calling upon Him throughout the day. Jer. 33:3, I Thess. 5:17 3. Reaching out to others…work those spiritual muscles.2 Cor. 9:7,8, Is. 61:1 4. Taking care of yourself….3 John 2, 91: 1 ,2 Remember He loves you, sent His only Son to die for YOU, and is coming soon! He is willing that none should perish! 2 Peter 3: 9… good news!
